How To Work Your Way Up To Be A Fashion Buyer? |
I have a Bachelor's step by step in English, but recently decided I'd much rather be on the business side of things in the Fashion world. So far I've done one fashion internship (marketing) with a creator, but I've read that a good way to get into buying is to work your way up.
Has anyone worked their way up from the store level to be a consumer? How long did it take and do you have any advice for me? Thanks!
I'm not a fashion customer, but I'm the assistant for the editor in-chief of a fashion magazine so I know about the fashion industry.
I suggest to keep charming the internships and look into magazines that are accepting (that would be a good way to work your way up to be a buyer)

Do you sell clothes/make your own?
I about clothes need space, machinery and some advanced skills. Why dont you start with something that is smaller like jewelry. Its effortlessly to store as its small and easier to display and sell. If you are creative you will love jewelry conspiring.
Start by getting a colourful jewelry "how to" book or surf the net for instructions. Get lorgnette beads and other fake stones and design for yourself first. Then friends and family and ask them to get you customers.

My tip or idea is to wear clothes that you are comfortable in, are durable and practical.
"Fashion" comes from the same origins as "Fascism". These are both words & ideas that presume "being dictated to" in one's behavior or position.
The World is uncertain enough without being dictated too by "fashion".
So, in spirit, just chose clothes that your comfortable in and serve their purpose. To all intents not the answer you were after...huh?
