What Were The Styles And Fashion Like Back In The 1940s?

I'm doing a scheme in World History and I need to put together a powerpoint of fashions and styles from the 1940's, but I can't find anything on it.
I've already put in 1940's styles in Google.


Can you ascertain me what its like?
Or any websites that you might have?

Put into sentiment, the first half of the 1940s was a reaction to the bleak years of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the increased affluence that full m brought to the country. However, since many products were diverted to the war effort and people had to stand in hire to buy things--if there were things to buy and they had the ration coupons to cover it--fashion in the first half of the decade was right-wing. Nylon stockings replaced silk and were much more durable--but used the same fibers as parachutes, so were trying to come by.

The second half was a reaction to the WWII years and increased affluence as well as increased availability as product returned to domestic rather than military consumption.

Fashion was strongly influenced by the glamour of the silent picture industry, and women were much more likely to "dress" for shopping, church, or an evening out than in the decades since.

Help With 1940s Fashion!!?

I have this point at school where I have to dress up as if im from the 1940s.

Can someone give me some tips on what was 1940s fashion and also if someone can give suggestions on some flowly skirts (my lecturer said flowy skirts were in style) from stores such as forever 21, objective,..nothing to expensive..less than $30.

Pencil skirts are really, really in right now.
